The argument started, as these arguments do, over a power strip. Not the desks themselves. Not the monitors, or the chairs, or whose bookshelf would have to move to the hallway. It started because two people looked at the same spare room, the same four walls, the same single outlet near the window, and each saw a workspace. Neither saw a shared one. Within twenty minutes, the conversation had drifted from cable management to something older and heavier: whose job mattered more, whose calls were more important, who had "claimed" the room first. Nobody was really fighting about electricity.
